For the second year, our first and second graders took part in Waterway Stage. This learning experience combines science with the theater as students learn about a various aquatic species within our area and the greater Lake Champlain watershed. ECHO Leahy Center and Very Merry Theatre partner with schools around Vermont to increase awareness around important water issues in our state.
This year we learned about the Eastern Pearlshell Mussel which is a very interesting animal and a threatened aquatic species in our area.
We performed our play on Monday, April 10th in Burlington on the Very Merry Theatre stage.

Here we go!

Welcome to our first and second grade photo blog! We are so excited to share these moments with all of you!

Math-Tastic!

Second graders apply their math and engineering skills to real world situations. They are learning how length, and angle apply to motion, and how to trouble shoot as they conduct hands-on research in preparation to create their own marble roller coasters!

Environmental Art

Several months ago we spent many lovely fall afternoons in our outdoor classroom observing and learning about the forest ecosystem. First and second graders enjoyed making their own environmental art in the style of Andy Goldsworthy.

Monarch Butterflies

Our students learned a lot about the life cycle of the Monarch Butterflies as together we raised them from tiny caterpillars to amazing adult butterflies! We recorded our observations and set them free to start their long migration to Mexico!

First graders share books that they have written with preschool friends!
